Very useful

Need to fix it in place with a club hammer before using a sledge

Great product

The only 'criticism' I can think of is that it is really helpful to have two of these, so the second can rescue the first if it gets stuck

Does the job

This is simple & effective.
Give it a whack with a club hammer to fix it in place, (if not you can drill a hole to drop it into but that takes more time).
Once seated either give it a few more hits with the club hammer or take a sledge hammer or the blunt side of a maul and one hit should do it.
Just a heads up if youre new to this, if your trying to split a wide log then dont just smack this into the middle. All that will happen is it will become sunk into the log which will remain unsplit.
If youre going to be splitting wide logs then buy two of these & take turns in hitting them into place about a third of the way in to each side of the log.
Its a bit roughly finished & the fins starting a little nearer the tip would be helpful.
All in all though this is a useful weight, (it needs to be heavy to work but be aware it can be awkward to get used to).
The price is good & it does the job nicely.
Remember your PPE & you should find this a useful tool for splitting logs.

A little gem

I was dubious about this working, first time used it on logs it was great, I was also using a sledge-hammer but together no problem.
